Whitemarsh Estates
February 28, 2019
There are several neighborhoods in Whitemarsh Township that are named “Whitemarsh Estates”. One of those neighborhoods is located off of Ridge Pike near Joshua Road. The names of most of the roadways in this Whitemarsh Estates are taken the names of trees, reflecting the heritage of this property formerly part of Andorra Nurseries. Today, as the photograph above shows, Whitemarsh Estates is still filled with trees.
Aspen Way gets its name from the Aspen Tree.
The main street into this community in the Freedom Valley is Oakwyn Road.
This roadway is named after the Oak Tree.
Balsam Place gets its name from the Balsam Tree.
A Balsam Tree was the National Christmas Tree, pictured above, in front of the United States Capitol in 2007.
Cypress Place is named after the Cypress Tree.
The Hemlock Tree is the source of the name for Hemlock Place.
Sumac Place gets its name from the Sumac Tree.
The one roadway in this neighborhood not named for a tree is Revere Road.
This street is a continuation of a roadway from an adjacent neighborhood and
was named after Mr. Paul Revere, a leader during the American Revolutionary War.
This painting was produced when Mr. Revere was 78 years of age in 1813.
